The trek makes a loop through the Sherpa populated Helambu region to the northeast of Kathmandu. It is a region where steeply cut rice terraces and deep green valleys give way to rich forests of oak and rhododendron, all set against a distant horizon of mountain peaks. This trek is ideal for people who do not have the time for one of the longer treks. Since it stays at relatively low altitudes it does not require sophisticated cold-weather equipment, clothing nor does have altitude sickness problem.
